For a one-to-five-bay shop, the honest answer is that the market leaders are built for chains: Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and AutoLeap sit around $200-$400 a month and assume a service advisor, a parts network and a permanent internet connection. OwnDesk Auto PRO covers the same daily work – repair orders, estimates, digital vehicle inspections, invoices, parts and the schedule – for a single payment, running on the computer already on your counter. What it does not do is multi-location, live multi-user sync, SMS or payment processing. If you need those, buy one of the subscription products; if you do not, you are paying $2,400 a year for features you will never open.

There is, and most of it is a trial that becomes a subscription, or a generic work-order app that knows nothing about vehicles, VINs, labour rates or parts markup. OwnDesk Auto PRO is not free, but it is paid once and never again – for less than one month of the subscription that free trial turns into. Yes. A full inspection with pass / watch / fail on each point, a note on any point, and up to six photos per inspection that print on the customer report. Anything the customer declines becomes deferred work, so next month you can pull up exactly what was found and quote it instead of guessing.
