Description
What it does
What the car actually cost you
Purchase price, transport, reconditioning, parts and fees roll into one figure. Margin stops being a guess.
Days in stock, in your face
The dashboard sorts your ageing units first, because the car nobody looks at is the one costing you money.
A CRM that fits a lot, not a franchise
Who called, about which unit, what you promised and when to call back. Follow-ups stop falling through, and nobody has to learn a franchise-grade CRM to log a phone call.
Documents ready to print
Sales orders, delivery notes and invoices with your logo, plus a full report pack for the month.
What you get
- The complete application, one HTML file
- Illustrated User Guide (PDF)
- Licence for one dealership, lifetime use
- Demo inventory included

What is the best dealer management system for a small used car lot?
The well-known DMS platforms – DealerSocket, VinSolutions, Frazer, Dealertrack – are priced and shaped for franchise stores, typically $150-$600 a month plus setup, with modules for departments a ten-car lot does not have. OwnDesk Dealer covers what an independent lot actually does every day: inventory with true cost, reconditioning, a customer CRM, test drives, sales orders and invoices. It is a one-time purchase. It does not do DMV e-filing, lender integrations, or feeds to the listing sites – if those are the reason you want a DMS, you need one of the big ones.
Is there free car dealer CRM software?
Free dealer CRMs are almost always a lead-capture front end for a paid platform, and they stop being free the moment your inventory or user count grows. This is paid once, and the CRM is part of the same file as the inventory, so a lead is attached to the actual unit rather than to a record in a different system.
How do I work out my real cost and margin per vehicle?
Every unit carries its purchase price plus transport, reconditioning, parts and fees, and those roll into one true cost figure. The dashboard shows margin against that number, not against the purchase price, which is the difference between a car you think made $1,800 and a car that actually made $900.
Does it show ageing inventory and days in stock?
Yes, and it leads with it. The dashboard sorts by days in stock with the oldest units first, because the car nobody has asked about in seventy days is the one quietly costing you floor plan and depreciation.
Can two people use it at the same time?
Not on the same live database. Each copy keeps its own records on its own computer and moves data through a backup file. For a lot with one person doing the paperwork that is fine; if you have two people entering deals simultaneously, this is the wrong tool and I would rather tell you now.
What do you need to run it?
Any modern browser – Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox – on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPad or Android. Nothing to install, no account, no internet connection after the download.
