Description

What it does

One counter or five, always in agreement

Every register and every location shares the same product catalog and stock count. Ring up a sale at one site and the others catch up the moment they reconnect – nobody reconciles two stores by phone at closing time.

Stock that knows which shelf it is on

Every item carries its own quantity per location instead of one combined number, so the dashboard can tell you Downtown is out while Westside has six on the shelf – not a figure that hides which store actually needs the reorder.

Real cash handling, not a formula you hope is right

Open a shift with a starting float, close it by counting the drawer, and see the exact difference. Expenses go through an approval step before they leave the record, so nothing walks out of the till unexplained.

A dashboard a manager actually reads

Net profit, margin, top sellers and sales across every location, filtered by date range – printed or exported to CSV, whichever your accountant asks for.

What you get

  • The complete application, one HTML file
  • Multi-device & multi-location setup guide
  • Licence for one business, lifetime use
  • Demo business with two locations included

Before you buy

What is the best POS inventory system for a small business with more than one location?
The category leaders – Square for Retail, Lightspeed Retail, Vend – are priced per register and per location, and once you add the multi-location and reporting tiers that is typically $69-$199 a month per site, or $3,000-$8,000 a year for three or four locations before you have sold a single item. OwnDesk POS covers the daily job – checkout, barcode scanning, stock per location, team accounts and a manager dashboard – for one payment that activates every register your licence covers. What it does not do is process card payments itself or push your catalog to an online store; pair it with your own card reader and it keeps working for years without another invoice.
Can two registers or two locations really use it at the same time?
Yes – that is the entire reason it exists. Each device keeps ringing up sales on its own, offline included, and catches up with the others the moment it has a connection again. A sale rung up at one location shows up in the shared stock and sales history without anyone copying numbers between stores by hand.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Every register keeps selling through a dropped connection or a router outage, and nothing is lost – it syncs automatically once the connection is back. The one moment it needs the internet is activating a new device for the first time.
How does it track stock across more than one location?
Every item carries a separate quantity per location rather than one combined figure, so the dashboard shows exactly what is on the shelf at each store. That is what lets it flag a location running low while another one is fully stocked, instead of a single number that hides which site actually needs the delivery.
Does it handle employees and cash handling, or just ring up sales?
Both. Each employee signs in with their own name and PIN, and you decide what a cashier can see versus what only the owner sees. Shifts open with a starting float and close by counting the drawer against what the system expects, and expenses go through an approval step before they are recorded.
What happens if two registers sell the last unit at the exact same moment, both offline?
That is the one edge case no offline-capable system can fully prevent. Rather than silently losing one sale or duplicating it, both are kept – the customer was charged either way – and the stock is clearly flagged as oversold so you can decide how to handle it. Most systems will not even tell you it happened.
What do you need to run it?
Any modern browser – Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox – on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPad or Android. Nothing to install beyond opening the file, and no internet needed once every device is activated.
